SPECIFICATION:

General instructions for use to measure the diameter Relaskop

1. Measure the desired horizontal distance ( H m) from the base of the tree ( or the point directly below the desired tree site) to the location of the point where necessary ( eg change in diameter) can be seen. Please note that you must be at least 5 m away for every 20 cm in diameter are anticipated.

2. Sight at the required point, while holding down a break to allow the scale to rotate freely.

3. Read from the scale of the diameter after the scale has been settled a large number of bands ( with the number 1 printed on them) ( L) ; small number band ( 4 narrow band just to the right of a band) ( S) , and the estimated fractional each small group ( s ) . Estimate the fraction of small bands such as 0.2 ( only to the band) , 0.4 ( nearly half) , 0.6 ( just over half) , 0.8 ( amost full narrow band) .

4. Diameter was calculated as ( cm) = H * ( L + 0.25 * ( S + s) ) * 2

5. Check to ensure the correct diameter appear. Note that L will be 0 or 1, S will be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and s will be a fraction less than 1.0.
